On March 4, 2017 the Helena Beautification Board held its annual Clean Up Day in Old Town Helena with 46 citizens coming out to show support by volunteering. During the event, volunteers shaped up shrubs and pulled weeds throughout Old Town and at the Welcome Center Caboose. As a part of the event, the Old Town strip project began to take shape with the installation of pole planters and 6 new varieties of sustainable roses. In total, 20 roses, 5 Rosemary shrubs, 8 Nandina shrubs were planted. Six existing roses were relocated to City Hall. New this year was a “How To” demo led by Brian Puckett. Brian demonstrated how to make and install your own pole planter, like those seen around town for very little money.
