On April 1, 2017 the Helena Beautification Board hosted it's Annual Planting Day for residents to come out and learn how to make their own baskets as well as help with making all of the baskets for the City of Helena. During the event, native perennials were also planted in the Old Town strip. The board received consultation on the varieties of native perennials from Dr. Jason Powell of Petal from the Past and Dr. Sue Webb, native perennial expert. New planters were installed in the two circle beds in Old Town as well.
